Itinerary

10.00 – Meeting with guide in the hotel lobby. Transfer to Sergiev Posad.
In 70 kilometers outside from Moscow there is city Zagorsk (Sergiev Posad) the oldest Russian city with a founding date in the middle of the XIX century.
It is a religious cultural center of Russia and is included in the Golden Ring of Russia route.
Since 1993, the museum complex of the Sergius Trinity Lavra has been included by UNESCO in the list of World Heritage Sites.

Trinity-Sergius Lavra is the largest Orthodox male monastery in Russia. It was founded in 1337 by Sergey Radonezhsky.

Trinity Cathedral. 1422-1423 years

The oldest church on the territory of the Lavra. The relics of the founder of Lara, the Monk Sergei of Radonezh, are stored here. The best icon painters of that time painted the walls of the cathedral. It is known for certain that the icon of Andrei Rublev “Trinity” is here and is the main shrine of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra. The cathedral is operational. There are worship services, prayers.

Assumption Cathedral. 1559-1585 years

Built by analogy with the Moscow Kremlin. The massive walls of the cathedral, two meters thick, are decorated with five stately domes. The interior of the cathedral is magnificent. Luxurious iconostasis with 75 icons. Mural painting on the walls and pillars of the temple. The central dome from which Christ is looking at you. The Assumption Cathedral is rightfully considered the most beautiful in the Lavra.

Monastery of St. Sergius of Radonezh. 1623 years

The temple was erected in memory of the disciple of the founder of the Lavra, the Monk Sergei Radonezh. The construction of the temple lasted about 30 years. On its territory there are more than 50 buildings for various purposes: cells of monks, temples, cathedrals, farm buildings. White walls, up to 15 meters high, surround the territory of the temple, over which gold and blue domes majestically rise.
13.30 – Lunch at the courtyard restaurant near the St. Sergius Lavra Monastery.
15.00 – Transfer to Moscow
17.00 – Arrival to hotel or Moscow city centre.
