The history of Moscow begins in 1147. The city was founded by Grand Duke Yuri Dolgoruky (1090-1157). At the very beginning it was a small border military post of the Suzdal Principality.
But over time, the city grew and in the XIV century, Moscow’s status came closer to Vladimir and Kiev. In 1389 Moscow became the capital of Russia.
