    Itinerary

    Sightseeing city tour of St.Petersburg
A sightseeing tour of St. Petersburg includes a visit to the most famous sights, including the magnificent palaces of former aristocrats. You will see the beauty and splendor of the city, learn a lot of interesting facts about its creation.

    Peter and Paul Fortress

Initially, the fortress was planned to protect the future capital. This is the first major construction of the city, from which its formation and development began. Over time, the fortress lost its protective function and for many years was used as a place of imprisonment of political opponents. One of its most famous prisoners was tsarevich Alexei, son of Peter the Great.

Today the fortress is the historical center of the city, a place for excursions and celebrations. A shot from the signal cannon is fired daily at noon.

    Palace Square

It is the central and largest square of the city, which is a harmonious architectural ensemble. Here one can see the Winter Palace, built by Baroque architect Rastrelli. Today, the palace houses one of the most famous and richest museums in the world – the Hermitage.

During the holidays, mass events are held on the square: concerts, competitions, parades and festivities.

    Nevsky Prospect

The main pedestrian street of the city stretches for 4 kilometers from the Admiralty building to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. Nevsky Prospect is a real parade of magnificent mansions and palaces that belonged to aristocratic and merchant families in the 18-19 centuries.

A walk along Nevsky Prospect introduces the history of the city, helps to learn about its traditions and special atmosphere. There are also museums, theaters, temples, canals.

Among the numerous cathedrals, the Temple has a special place. It was erected near the site of the assassination of Emperor Alexander II and is a kind of monument to the illustrious monarch.

The temple is made in the traditional style of Russian architecture, outwardly reminiscent of St. Basil’s Cathedral, located in Moscow on Red Square. As a decoration, expensive finishing materials were used: marble, jasper, gilded copper.

    Excursion to the Yusupov Palace

There is no gallery selected or the gallery was deleted.

The Yusupov Palace is located on the embankment of the Moika River. The first mention of it dates back to 1726. The building is made in the neoclassical style, it was repeatedly rebuilt and changed its owners. In 1830, the palace was bought by Prince Boris Yusupov. For many years, five generations of this influential Petersburg family lived in it.

The Yusupovs completely rebuilt their palace, decorated the interior with marble staircases, gilded chandeliers, elegant stucco molding, Venetian mirrors, paintings and sculptures. In all the decoration, luxury and exquisite taste of the owners were felt.

A tragic event is associated with the Yusupov Palace. Grigory Rasputin, the close face of Emperor Nicholas II, known for his loose lifestyle, was killed here.

After the revolution of 1917, the palace building was nationalized, today in its halls there is a museum where you can admire the lifestyle of one of the most influential families of tsarist Russia.
